in 3 words: Perfectionist, adaptable, gerbil You were made redundant from your IT job. This is a big departure for you – how did Wooden Tiger start It all started with Tiger Maintenance. I was listening to BBC Radio 4 and they were saying that there was a shortage of practical handymen. Some one who could put up shelves and help people with the bigger DIY jobs etc. I loved DIY and apparently my wife said I wasn’t too bad at it so I decided to form Tiger Maintenance. In my spare time I would make various pieces of furniture for our new home. In the spring of 2006 we met Chris Dobson through a friend and together with his amazing skills we moved more towards the design side and Tiger Design was launched! As from May 07 Tiger Design has evolved into The Wooden Tiger Furniture Company LLP or Wooden Tiger for short. Chris is now an official partner and it is great having him onboard as well as Maddy. It is great working with my wife although she has been known to be a little bossy! Why have you got TIGER in the title of the company? Its simple really – I have a thing for Tigers so it was seemed natural to include this in the company name. We have adopted a tiger in India but he never writes! Have you got any qualifications? I have to admit I went to the university of life! I spent a few years at Farnborough Tech studying electronics and completed a carpentry course with Eastleigh college. I also learn from my mistakes and build on those. I love power tools - if its got a plug on it I want it - just to annoy Chris ! Thanks for your time – what are you going to do now? Make some more sawdust in the workshop! |
